SIM Card Lock

Ever forget your password for G-Mail and then go to forgot password and it sends a code to your mobile number? Well what if someone stole your phone and even though you have a password on your phone, they can take the SIM card and put it into another device and then they could be resetting your G-Mail password too!

You can prevent this by utilizing the SIM Card Lock feature which makes it so your SIM card requires a PIN code when the phone is powered on, reset, or when the card is moved to another device.

To enable this, you will find it in your phones settings under the title of Sim Card Lock or something similar. When I did it on my phone, the SIM already had a PIN set to it, so I had to enter it incorrect until the tries ran out, then it asked for the PUK code which I got by logging into my account with my carrier, and found it under a section for managing the SIM card. Then I simply entered this PUK code, and I was able to set a SIM PIN of my choosing and presto my SIM Card Lock was setup.

Now I don’t have to worry about someone getting past my MFA account security because they have my SIM card.

Below is an article I found about SIM Card Lock that I found helpful.
